Giles’ grandmother may be my favorite character of all. I love how she’s the one who convinces him to come back to the Watchers. And how she straight up tells him that she knows all about Eyghon, Randall, and Giles probably losing his soul and going to hell. Also, that she understands how all those things are exactly what a Slayer needs her Watcher to understand. This is awesome.
And then of course… I can always do without Spike. Even if it’s entertaining that he came even without a spaceship. (And wow, who thought that was a good plot device?) Of course, I was glad that the twist was that Eyghon could actually posses a vampire when in his full demon form because that meant that only Angel could actually save the day.
Nice to see some reconciliation of Slayers not having to be Slayers if they didn’t want to be.
I understand that every writer wants to play with Angelus. But sometimes, it think it’s best if you just leave that to your fanfiction. He’s fun, but perhaps a tad too much for this book. And we’ve seen many times when Angel’s gone insane either in canon or in alternative universes or different dimensions. And wasn’t insanity what caused this in the first place?

Gage has way too much fun writing Spike. Or at least writing other people picking on him, not that I don’t understand or can’t see the temptation to do so. That said, I’m a little surprised Gage didn’t instead want to play with Angelus. (Even given my thoughts on that.)
Faith turning down Spike was hilarious. Especially when Spike started listing off everyone that she’d slept with instead of him. Just enough to get him mad enough to destroy all the Enders.
Lavinia and Sophie remain super awesome. I love how much they care about Giles; yet, how horribly superficial and only concerned with themselves they are. When they read Spike as someone who gets too attached — and he does even without a soul, so they read him wrong there — they were spot-on.
Angel always has a soft spot for Spike. I love that his solution was to give Spike Harmony’s number, and how harmless everyone thinks Harmony is.

No one’s super surprised that Pearl, Nash, and Whistler show up in time to raid Alisdair’s magical items just as they’re finishing resurrecting Giles. I’m looking forward to seeing what actually happened in the next issue.
Lavinia and Sophie remain my favorites. I love seeing them rally behind Giles for their own reasons.
There’s also whatever Alistar hoped to gain from resurrecting Giles still remains to be seen.
Kind of feeling like they won’t get rid of Pearl, Nash, and Whistler in this book. They seem to be saving them for some magic face-off, and there will probably be a crossover with Buffy, Willow, and the rest of the crew.
