This book is good good. I love Lunella so much. Her interest in the stars is the best, and how smart she is compared to her other classmates and the work she’s assigned with in class. How her mom convinced her to go to school was brilliant.

The incorporation of Devil Dinosaur’s history was a little meh. Mostly because I didn’t care that much, but I suppose there are always those who want comics history to be complete and full. That said, Lunella was the character who’s story I most cared about.

Bustos’ art was one of my favorite things about this book. I love her expressions on Lunella and the way she expresses a smart child’s world. Lunella’s bedroom and all its glory expressed so much about the character.

And who doesn’t love a tale about a girl with her animal friend. Even if that animal friend happens to be a dinosaur. I can’t wait for this book to really get in on it’s own feet. I’ve enjoyed other Reeder and Montclare books before and see the same type of spirit here, so I hope this book gets it due.

Meh. This issue didn’t grab me as much as the last one did. It actually reminded me a lot of Rocket Girl, in that we had a character mostly chased all over town or on a rampage without much actual plot happening.

I wanted to see more of Lunella working through the problems of figuring out how to control Devil Dinosaur. Seems like she’d be trying more things. Such as treating him like a puppy. Instead of just trying to figure out the Kree technology.

The cavemen rather bore me. They aren’t particularly interesting, except that Lunella will likely have to figure out how to send them back in time.

I don’t know exactly what I’m not getting into with this book. It seems like a lot of aspects that excite me: Lunella’s brilliance and her connection with Devil Dinosaur are getting side stepped. Like she has an entire secret lab beneath her school, and we didn’t get any time to explore it. Her overprotective parents also seem like a waste. How did they not realize she makes gadgets?

I really want more cohesion and more direction in the storyline.

I’m hoping that Hulk showing up will mean that the Killer Folk will exit the book soon enough. They seem like a distraction against all the other events and things Lunella could be doing

Of course, with the fire, Lunella could have some time off school in the near future…
