Bruce being on a self-destructive streak is never good a thing. Obviously, it’s going to blow up in his face. While he’s correct that Skaar is probably the only one who can kill Hulk, I’m not sure this isn’t just buying a tiger to rid an apartment of rats.

Also, I know Bruce is buff, but seriously how can he carry the Hulk’s sword and armor.

I like Lyra making new friends and wanting to find She-Hulk. This backup story could be a really great look into how Lyra assimilates into Earth-616. But I have to say that I’m more excited to see Lyra and Jen team-up and take on the world. You know they’re going to.

Again, I’m not sure the point of Skaar’s training to kill Hulk by Banner. Oh, well.

The part with the milkshake was cute and served well as a precursor to some things Skaar just doesn’t understand. I like that even he doesn’t fully understand the scope of his powers. It reminds me a lot of older comics where people like Magneto would just move solid steel beams around. Likewise, Juggernaut being thrown into space by Skaar is equally ridiculous old-school.

I love Lyra’s calm in her anger. Kind of a gimmicky weakness but Van Lente works it well.

What I’m really hoping for is a Jen as Lyra’s mentor in the same way as Van Lente’s Wolverine: First Class. That would be an amazingly awesome comic. Especially if he brought in some of the characters from Jen’s history which have sorely been neglected. I see an appearance of Zapper, Howard the Duck, Elephant Man, the Blonde Phantom, etc.

Oh, so bored. I don’t know if it’s my dislike of father-son angst or being bored with Hulk and Wolverine as characters. (Of course, good on Marvel for finally coming to the post-modern era of daddy angst.)

Pitting Skaar against Daken doesn’t interest me. Of course, two male characters enter Thunderdome alive and only one comes out plots just don’t entice me in general.

Banner is right though; he is scarier than the Hulk. Which actually make Amadeus Cho correct about the Hulk not really wanting to hurt anyone.

Boudicca being snotty to the villains was just hilarious in this. Of course, Lyra is going to kick their butts.

This comic is just far too short. I really wish the main story was the back-up. I’m ready for this comic to be about a She-Hulk, not a He-Hulk.

  1. Nice review, though I disagree. I loved the Banner and Son stuff, though I wish Banner had spent equal amount of time with Lyra.
