Kegelface may be the best codename ever. Or insult or both!
I love that Suzie petted tigers while in the Quiet. Yes, this is something that I would do too. And the polar bears and the other awesome wild animals that otherwise might eat your face. I’d also take some time to chill and read a book in silence.
That and Suzie’s revenge for her college friend, I’d do that too. If I had any type of superpowers.
I like how Fraction challenges the different things the characters can do in the world. Like how it doesn’t quite work to have sex in the car. And how getting high is not advisable. (Good thing it was just pot!) Looking forward to more of that.
Suzie getting all up-and-arms about how there’s no way Kegelface and the others are actual cops was pretty good too. Can’t wait for more bank robbing for libraries!

Wow, Jon really fucked there when they plan to rob the bank, but instead, he can’t stop himself from shitting in his boss’ plant. It is pretty crazy that his boss doesn’t get rid of the plant. I definitely would. Probably plant it in a forest or park or somewhere for dogs to poop on it instead.
It makes me love Suzie even more that she can get out of handcuffs. Jon and his ridiculous Spider-Man and Star Trek sex outfit slayed me.
Now I’m even more curious about how people can come into the Quiet and out of it. Seems like Jon and Suzie would’ve experimented more with this, since there are two of them.
More experimenting!

So it wasn’t that this issue was bad — a “bad” issue of Sex Criminals — is still better than 99% of all comic books out there. It was that it didn’t live up to the high expectations of most readers, it just didn’t work for me. I just really have some dislike of Jon as a character.
Fraction has said that both Suzie and Jon are fuck ups. And yes, Suzie isn’t a perfect character, but the direction of the current story, she is 100% more of an adult than Jon is. Sure, women matured faster than men. And perhaps, Jon has a more “practical and stable” job than Suzie. I guess that I just don’t understand why Suzie fell for Jon besides the fact that they can both go into The Quiet. And recent developments have shown us that they aren’t alone, so in fact, Suzie could find other lovers who might be better suited for her as partners when outside the sheets.
Maybe I need more empathy for male characters with known mental issues who suddenly have bouts of fail when they know a solution for it. Or have it. Or can get it. Maybe this is where the story gets too personal, maybe it just reads to personal, maybe it makes me feel like I’m reading a self-confessional autobiography of a man and that’s making the story hard for me to enjoy.
I’m going to assume this whole protect Suzie by taking down the Sex Police is going to backfire badly in Jon’s face. Because it is a dick move.
