The two things I can about:

1. All the smooching.

2. Bini is okay! Hurt, yes, but going to be okay.

Of course, Poppy cannot leave Bini. But she also cannot leave the country at the hands of her uncle, who seems particularly set on killing Cyrenic and putting Poppy under his watchful eye.

I love that Ibette is the one who finds and cares for Bini, and she understands how important the fox is to everyone. It’s nice to see soldiers not just soldiering.

Now we have several new mysteries. What did come before Poppy? What is it about those fields? Where is her father, if not dead? And what does “erased from time” mean? In this world, it could mean literally that?

I’m so sad that Sleepless is over! It ended beautifully and perfectly. I love Poppy, Cyrenic, and Bini. I wanted more Rellen and Poppy friendship. I wanted more of those poppy fields we see on the final page.

It felt very royal that the reason Otranto was trying to kill Poppy was over a feud that happened a long time before she was born. This is why royals are drilled with the history of other royals and their families. Of course, in this verse, there is a trend around erasing people from history if they are deemed to be traitors.

Cyrenic and the King coming to an understanding worked well. Same with the King and Poppy repairing their relationship with her confident that he didn’t want to destroy her and vice versa. If they’d just had an open conversation about their life goals, they could’ve figured this out a while ago.

Bini getting healed with the injured soldier was too great. No one can resist the charm of Bini. Sure, Poppy and Cyrenic could’ve gotten away together, but they never would’ve figured out the truth and been able to move on from their past into their future. I also adored the bits about Cyrenic helping the Sleepless evolve in their thinking and mission.

I think it’s a good move to show trust in Poppy that she gets to move to her estate and she gets what her heart wants. So much love for Poppy and Cyrenic. I will miss this book.
